Director of Music

JOB SUMMARY: Selects, prepares, and executes all church music such as preludes, postludes, hymns, and anthems for worship services on Sundays and/or other services, major festivals (Christmas, Easter, Pentecost, etc.) Recruits and trains choir(s) and willing to work with all ages.

Develops long-range plans for expenditures in the music program of the Congregation and submits these to the Priest on an annual basis. Offers special performances at Easter, Christmas, and other special occasions. Maintains music files. Monitors musical equipment for repairs and tuning and reports status to Worship and Priest. Also willing to share space with other musicians she or he recruits from time to time to enhance our experience in worship.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Priest-In-Charge or Rector

QUALIFICATIONS: College degree in music or equivalent in private musical training and experience. Ability and knowledge to play organ. Willing ability or knowledge to train voices, conduct choral singing and bell choir directing. Good communication skills. Flexible and willing to learn Anglican traditional music as well as contemporary music.

EXPERIENCE: Prior church music experience will be helpful. Organ and choral experience are essential.
